Hookers N’ Junkies

So, I’ve got all these projects on the go, but I’ve finally finished the blanket that made me insecure. For some reason, I’ve been all 12-year-old-girl-not-knowing-what-to-wear about this blanket for Andrea, but I finally bit the bullet and finished it. I have a bit of sewing to do, and then I will post the picture. But, all the stitching is done. It’s a combo knit, crochet and sewn baby item, that I hope will be enjoyed by those who use it.

I’m so close to finishing that one gift that I will not mention for fear of letting the receiver know what it is, but am so close I can taste it. I’d like to make a wool hat to walk home in, since I am enjoying the daily pedestrian activity, but I fear it will just be a distraction from all the other things I must do. Will my stitch work never end? No, and I think that is the point. Still, I’ve gotta love it.

In sort of related news, as many people know, I love listening to audiobooks while I stitch at work, and last night I finished Coraline. It was quite enjoyable, and very creepy. Especially when you realise it is written for kids. eeek! next up: Nineteen Eighty Four. I’m looking forward to it

My boss’s bday is tomorrow so (short story, she mentioned she likes turtles, and, well I love turtles) this is my gift to her… unfinished, it does have a head but pics are coming…

Anyone have any objections to Saturday the 8th? Or Sunday the 9th? I prefer Saturday afternoon. Same time, same place?

Indeed, our first stitch and bitch was a success on all fronts. Location, location, location. We indulged in a cross-section of convo. and recommends. As witnessed by the takeparters ( ), there were a variety of skill levels, from the squarely determined, to the denial of reality assghans, to awesome nipples covers to perrrrty scarves to the one lone man. He is a slow convert, knitting a yarn on the laptop instead but I feel with exposure to our ways he could be swayed.

As for the assghan I think I need to back away from the cheap-ass (never hitting home so hard as in this instance) granny choices of yarn until I am, well, not 30yr.

As for more “Yarn-ins” “Stich’n'bitches” … I am up for lots and lots. I am throwin’ out the idea also of quick flyers to advert. for people who wanna bond, learn, watch in awe. Discusssssss…

What a success! Fun was had all around, I think, with the only exception of my hangover, but hey, I managed despite. So, for all you bitchers (stitchers? sbitchers?) wanna go every 2 weeks? 4 weeks? weekly? Sunday? Saturday? Let me know here, so we can start the festivities

And I can’t think of anything to do with it. I’m so uninspired since I got home, I can’t wait until we have the stitch n bitch so I can get the creative juices flowing.

Last night, I did spend an hour winding a ball of yarn (from a hank). guh. Thank Goodness it was cashmere and oh so sweet and soft to touch, so I didn’t even have one rage moment. I think I’ve come a long way

We are meeting on Saturday, at 1300hrs at Remedy Cafe on 109th Street beside the Movie Studio. bring your yarn and/or stuff.

And I can’t figure out a yarn related project for my vacation. Should I just go without? what a shame that would be, but I’m kind of at a loss for things that I could do in the 35 degree weather.
